Push off Push worth over $250 million?!

On August 26, 2012, the biggest trade in quite some time or even baseball history was completed. It also marked the most expensive trade in any sport's history. The Los Angeles Dodgers completed a deal with the Boston Red Sox bringing them 3 big name all-stars in Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford and Josh Beckett along with utility infielder Nick Punto. The Dodgers sent away their first baseman and pretty much depleted an already depleted minor league system that they had. Not only did they kill their system they also picked up more than $250 million in salary through the 2018 season. This all went down to "guarantee" a playoff spot for the Dodgers but it really isn't working out yet. So as of now the Dodgers just spent millions of dollars to see their system dwindle away to nothing and end up with older washed up players.

We understand that you have to spend money to be good in this league. We understood that before we bought the team. So we're excited.-- Magic Johnson, Dodgers co-owner
